Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 13 October 2026
These terms apply when you buy from our website. Please read them before you order. By placing an order you agree to them. They don’t affect your legal rights as a consumer.
Who we are
This website, thedatebarltd.co.uk, is run by The Date Bar Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number [company number]). Our registered office is [registered office address]. [VAT number if registered.]
We make stuffed Medjool dates by hand on the North Yorkshire and Durham border. You can reach us at [email protected].
Placing an order
You can order as a guest or with an account. Before you pay, the checkout shows your basket, delivery cost and total, and you can go back and correct anything. Please check your delivery address carefully. We send your parcel to the address you give us.
When you pay, we email you to confirm we have your order. That email is our acceptance, and a contract between us starts at that point. If we can’t make your order, for example because an ingredient is unavailable, we will tell you by email and refund you in full. We may also decline an order if we suspect fraud or there is an obvious pricing error.
Our website is for personal orders. Wedding favours and corporate gifts are quoted separately. Get in touch and we’ll agree the details and price with you directly.
Prices and payment
All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP). Delivery is added at checkout and shown before you pay. We check our prices, but if we find a clear mistake after you order, we will contact you and you can either pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
We take Visa, Mastercard and debit cards. Payments are handled securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. We take payment when you place your order.
Made to order
Every box is made fresh after you order it. Because our dates are handmade, each one can look a little different from the photos on the site. The flavours and quantities will match what you ordered.
Our dates last up to 3 months. Store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and once opened, eat them within 2 weeks.
Delivery
We deliver to UK addresses only, by Royal Mail Tracked 24, for a flat £4.40 per order. We usually dispatch within 3 to 4 working days. It can take longer in busy periods such as Ramadan and Eid. The goods become your responsibility once they are delivered. Full details are on our Delivery page.
Cancelling an order
For most online purchases you have 14 days to change your mind. That right does not apply to our dates. Under regulation 28 of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, it doesn’t cover goods that spoil quickly or goods made to your own choices. Our dates are both.
If you need to change or cancel an order, email us as soon as you can. If we haven’t started making it, we’ll do our best to help, but we can’t promise.
If something is wrong
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, what you buy must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If your order arrives damaged or faulty, or we sent the wrong thing, please email us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and photos. Telling us quickly lets us see the problem while the dates are still fresh. We will then replace the items or give you a refund. See Refunds and Returns for how this works.
Allergens
All of our dates contain nuts. Our kitchen also handles milk, soya, sesame, peanuts, cereals containing gluten and eggs, so any product may contain them, and our apricot filling contains sulphites. The full ingredients of every flavour, with allergens in bold, are on our flavours page.
Please check this information before you order, and before you eat or give our dates to someone else. If you have any questions about ingredients, email us before ordering. We take care to give accurate allergen information. If we have done so, we can’t be responsible for a reaction to an ingredient that was clearly listed. This does not limit your rights if our information was wrong or missing.
Our liability
If we break these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of that. We are not responsible for loss that nobody could have expected when you ordered, or for business losses, as our website is for personal use.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to exclude. We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our control, such as severe weather or problems with Royal Mail. If that happens, we’ll keep you informed.
Our content

Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. If you’re unhappy with anything, please email us first. Most problems can be sorted out quickly that way.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you place your order is the one that applies to it.
